document.write('<br />I\'m off to <a href=\"http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&#038;zu=http://cruises.about.com/od/alaskacruises/ig/Anchorage-Alaska/\">Anchorage, Alaska</a> today for a few days before our cruise on the 24-passenger MV Mist Cove of <a href=\"http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&#038;zu=http://www.theboatcompany.com/\">The Boat Company</a>. <div style=\"float:right;margin:5px 0 5px 5px;\"><img src=\"http://0.tqn.com/d/cruises/1/0/F/J/alaska001.JPG\" alt=\"Alaska mountains\" style=\"border:none\" /></div> We\'ll be flying on to Juneau on Saturday and then will sail Alaska\'s Inside Passage to Sitka. It should be a marvelous voyage, with glorious scenery, exciting wildlife, and cooler days and nights than at home in Georgia.<p>Before our cruise, we will be driving from Anchorage up to Denali National Park for a couple of days, and then spend two more days in the Anchorage area. Anchorage is a great pre- or post-cruise destination and is located relatively near Denali. The <a href=\"http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&#038;zu=http://cruises.about.com/od/alaskacruises/ig/Alaska-Railroad-Train/index.htm\">Alaska Railroad</a> linking Seward, Denali, and Fairbanks passes right through the Anchorage Airport, so visitors can see some of this massive state on the train, or use it to transfer from Anchorage to Seward to join their cruise ship.</p>I\'ve been to Alaska twice before--once on the Cruise West <a href=\"http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&#038;zu=http://cruises.about.com/od/alaskacruises/ss/Alaska_Cruise.htm\">Spirit of Yorktown</a>, and the second time on the Regent <a href=\"http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&#038;zu=http://cruises.about.com/od/alaskacruises/tp/Seven_Seas_Mariner_Alaska.htm\">Seven Seas Mariner</a>. document.write('<br />While on our <a href=\"http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&#038;zu=http://cruises.about.com/od/northamericacruises/tp/cruise_west_columbia_river.htm\">Columbia and Snake River cruise on the Cruise West Spirit of Discovery</a>, we were treated to a full-day jet boat ride excursion in Hells Canyon of the Snake River.<div style=\"float:right;margin:5px 0 5px 5px;\"><a href=\"http://cruises.about.com/od/northamericacruises/ig/Snake-River-Hells-Canyon/Hells-Canyon-Snake-River.-svF.htm\"><img src=\"http://z.about.com/d/cruises/1/0/6/B/5/Hells_Canyon_016.jpg\" alt=\"Hells Canyon of the Snake River\" style=\"border:none\" /></a></div> It was great fun to ride the snaking river almost 90 miles upstream through the steep canyon with the cliffs towering over our boats.  <p>We stopped for a break at Cache Creek and for lunch at Kirby Lodge before heading back downstream to Clarkston. The ride downstream went much faster, and those in the back of the boat got wet! Good thing they were forewarned by our pilot.
